my aunt just showed me this really cool guy, eric daigh, who uses push pins to create amazing pixelated portraits.
"I am the son of a painter and a dental hygienist. I live and work in Northern Michigan with my wife and son. I am free from credit card debt."

this is definately worth checking out:

i love when artists use normal life objects, and create something beautiful out of them... i feel like people can more easily connect to the works, because, they use those objects everyday, and have control of them. so, it gives the viewer a feeling that they too can create something beautiful... does that make sense?

stuck in my head...
He stumbled into faith and thought
God, this is all there is
The pictures in his mind awoke
And began to breathe
And all the gods and all the worlds
Began colliding on a backdrop of blue
Blue lips, blue veins
He took a step but then felt tired
He said I'll rest a little while
But when he tried to walk again
He wasn't a child
And all the people hurried fast, real fast
And no one ever smiled
Blue lips, blue veins
Blue, the color of our planet
From far, far away
Blue lips, blue veins
Blue, the color of our planet
From far, far away
He stumbled into faith and thought
God, this is all there is
The pictures in his mind arose
And began to breathe
And no one saw and no one heard
They just followed the lead
The pictures in his mind awoke
And began to breathe
They started off beneath an olive tree
And they chopped it down to make a picket fence
And marching along the railroad tracks
They smiled real wide for the camera lens
As they made it past the enemy lines
Just to become enslaved in the assembly lines
Blue lips, blue veins
Blue, the color of our planet
From far, far away
Blue lips, blue veins
Blue, the color of our planet
From far, far away
Blue, the most human color
Blue lips, blue veins
Blue, the color of our planet
From far, far away

through the winter woods...
wow, what a wonderful winter adventure! today, we all packed up in the car and drove to glacier, snowshoes in tow. my dad and i thought up this idea yesterday on the chairlift, and im not gonna lie, i was pretty excited about it!
so, we drove up to the lodge, got ourselves all situated, and took off into the wintery woods. everything looked so magical. snow slowly fell through the forest, and flakes landed gently on my nose as i took pictures, trying to capture the wonder...
...in the middle of the woods we found a little village of cabins, that are priceless, really. these houses can legally only be passed down through family members, not bought or sold... im jealous because i want one so bad...
while i made my way through a thick patch in the forest, a tree stole my hat...

above the clouds...
well, day four snowboarding, and im loving every minute of it! there have been inversions the past three days...they are my favorite because a.its sunny and b.the views are absolutely amazing! all of the mountain peaks pop out like islands through the clouds, which almost appear to be a white fluffy ocean. it is so easy to see glacier national park. and when the sun starts to set, it makes the mountains turn purple. truely, so inspiring!
this picture is from a couple of hours ago, while the sun was just disappearing over the mountains...
...i think i found heaven...

santa claus is skiing to town...
in whitefish, there is a town tradition called the torchlight parade. twenty or thirty skiers and snowboarders come down the face, holding torches for light. and following all of them, of course, is santa! its really fun! last night it was about five degrees...so it was pretty chilly! my whole family bundled up in scarves, coats, mittens, hats, boots...and packed into the car to drive up to the mountain. we got there with ten minutes to spare, and managed to stand right in the front. {owing to the cold temperatures, many people waited inside a restraunt nearby, and came out just in time for the parade to start.} my hands almost froze off from taking pics, but its all good!
this would have been a good pic if my sister hadn't closed her eyes...
a christmas eve afternoon
a family day
fisrt day out on the slopes, and the whole family came, which was nice! the mountain was sunny and snowy, but crazy cold! it took me a good three hours to defrost when i got home...
we all had a great time skiing together! lunch was fun! we got a huge plate of nachos to share, and tall hot chocolates with whip cream..
we took off for christmas eve, but my dad and i plan on running up there later this afternoon to do a little christmas ride! {excited!}

hey, im flying..!
well... on the day we traveled to montana, i attempted to photojournal my day, which was fun, but i felt awkward pulling out my camera and taking pics with a ton of people around me. so, i tried... i took a pic of my feet at each airport, {baltimore, cincinatti, salt lake} i find it so incredible that i can physically be in four totally different places in less than 12 hours!
i didnt want to post all of my pics because it would be overwhelming, but i posted my favorites!
i spent most of my day writing and drawing in my art journal.. i just kept thinking of things... i made a really cute spread, where i recorded a bunch of questions that were running through my head. maybe someday they will be answered...
at one moment, i looked out my window, and we were flying over a blanket of clouds and the sky was the truest color of blue! it reminded me of where the wild things are. i felt like max was out there running around out there too...
only a little out of order...
merry christmas to all! ive been very busy the last couple of days, but i have also taken many many pictures, so.. a little out of order and all over the place, ill share my past week! i figured id start at the very beginning, in baltimore! it was snowy, but a fun day! my family and i went down to the harbor, got some shopping done, and took lots of pictures:

dressed up like eskimos...
first thing saturday morning, i pulled on my rainboots and bundled up in my warmest coat, and ventured into the snow to take some pictures of the amazing winter wonderland of richmond... it felt more like falling through the wardrobe into narnia. i even found the lamppost!
unfortunately, i forgot to look in the mirror before walking outside, so my face was...interesting. oh well, its snow!!

cuz baby its cold outside...
second christmas party! so much fun, again! heather and annemarie made some amazing food, including eggplant lasagna and chocolate mint cupcakes. oh! and a lederhosen gingerbread man! it was so cute! i adored it, although he got a little hard so, we couldnt really eat him...oh well. he was too cute to eat anyway! and the best part about the whole night?? IT SNOWED! like a whole foot! and it didn't let up either! richmond transformed into a winter wonderland...
i also got the most adorable christmas presents! annemarie made me a beautiful bird house, and i also got a comfy ivory scarf and {this is not a book} from heather! merry christmas it is!
after stuffing ourselves with sweet potato fries and dinner, we gathered in the family room fireplace and watched glorious christmas nights {the tobey show}...such good memories...
