on a sunday...

what a glorious day it has been! i woke up so amazingly joyful this morning, and it was great! after church my small group all packed ourselves up and stopped by the carytown kroger, then over to Gabe's apartment. we {as in heather and annemarie and rachel} cooked bruchetta and

sundried tomato rice. so good! and fresh and filling! i am in love with gabes house. she lives across the street from the virginia museum of fine art. and her and her roommates have done an amazing job decorating. i had a wonderful time hanging out with all my blogging buddies and drinking tea and talking about the past couple of weeks...just a wonderful afternoon!

and then i came home, and had a little treat! more tea, and a piece of lemon cake {thankyou jen} soon after, i drove over to the mall and got some new pants and a cute little flannel shirt! so today has just been full of little joys! and... i have good news! all of the animal shelters in the area are full! so guess who gets to stick around!?!? yep! amber dear is gonna be here for a while! :) i knew it!

a fun day for me

after my judication this mornin, i wallowed around the house for a couple of hours. then me and my sister and daddy packed up and took a little drive out to goochland somewhere. i saw the cutest little barn, and when the sun started setting it made all the trees look gold! {love}

then, we ate nachos for dinner, and soon after, i met up with haley to help her out with her photo project. we hit party city for face paint and masks, and then went to her makeshift studio/bedroom. we had a ton of fun just messing around and being silly. but she also got some amazing shots. i will share when she gets them to me! :)

update.

so, i just got back from the judication. and i had an amazing time. i thought it was so fun. i met this guy named andrew, but i didn't happen to catch his last name. but he runs for atlee high school and he did some pretty amazing art. hopefully we will meet again...anyway. i am so glad that it is all over. i can stop stressing. and now all i have to do is wait until april. :/

my bud megan gets the credit for this one! she told me about these amazing paper shoes. they cant be worn, but they're tight right.?!. these are constructed by le creative sweatshops.look around their page that is linked into the cargo collective artists network, which is also worth looking into.



they also have this ongoing project {well i think its still going on} called INTERNATIONAL PAPER VIRUS. you can contact them, and they will send you 200 pieces of ready-to-fold paper to do whatever you like with... this is what happened when the virus hit amsterdam:



would that not be the coolest thing to be a part of!? i wanna do it...

and she took me along...

amber greeted me when i got home today, and instead of running inside like i normally do, i decided to play with her a bit. i thought it was odd that she kept grabbing at my wrist, and i couldnt understand what she wanted. and then, she walked away from me, and turned back. i began walking towards her, and she continued venturing toward the street. she wanted me to follow her! so i did, and we took a little trip up and down the street. she smelled trash cans and mailboxes and poop... and i just stood watched followed....and, it was the best part of my day. she just wanted to go on a walk, and not be alone... i feel terrible because shes homeless, and none of us really know what is going to happen to her... but i love my little amber nonetheless.

Happy cardmaking

so, my lovely eleanor just turned 17 and i decided that i wanted to make her a really cute card. so i spent some time on tuesday cardmaking, and i also made a thankyou note for my neighbors.... like?




i really should get an etsy store, i could totes sell these. i saw these sewn butterflies while web searching, they are such a cute touch, and they're recycled! you could probably do that with any shape. that would be cool to do with circles... just a thought

so, a guy walks into a bathroom...

toilet paper. a wonderful invention really... i use it every day. we all do. and when it's gone, we throw the roll in the trash. and that poor little piece of discarded cardboard is all of a sudden alone in the world. until, that is, he lands in the hands of the patient and talented Anastassia Elias, a collage artist, painter, illustrator and paper crafter. and she turns those lonely rolls into amazing artwork!

he wants me, and i want him too...

this afternoon, my mother and i were greeted by this adorable little creature when we arrived home... he doesnt have a collar, and we fear that he was dropped off and abandoned. if it was up to me i would keep him in a heartbeat, but my parents say no, so. if you know anyone who may want a loving and very friendly dog...

when art meets music magic happens

i came across this while doing research on altered books, and i am amazed right now! Maeve Clancey created this amazing paper scene for Lisa Hannigan’s “I Don’t Know” video... lisa hannigan has recorded with damien rice, and she also does her own little thing and i love her. And Maeve, well. she is incredibly talented and extremely patient. enjoy!

this could get interesting...

soo...another new adventure! i got {this is not a book} for christmas from my friend, and many of the assignments inside call for the assistance of another person... so one of my other creative buddies and i are going to take on the challenge together, if they are still up for it of course. haha.

first assignment down and done, so time for the switch. and we will see how this goes...because this could get interesting.

last days of break...

today and yesterday have been so good for me. saturday, i spent the entire day getting my room all tidy, and i cleaned out a corner for one of my christmas presents {a cute and simple little art easel}.
then today, i finally got to see all-well most-of my friends. we went to whole foods for lunch. and then to my lovely, heather's house. we all made hot cider/ chocolate/ tea and cuddled on the couch to watch 500 days of summer...im so glad for normal to be back! i wore my new headband {thankyou little brother} and hippie shirt {thankyou little sister}... they make me happy.

i also got the cutest hand decorated birdhouse from my bud annemarie...so cute! i love the torn map on the sides!

a resolution..?

im not into the whole new years resolution thing.the endless weight loss comercials get on my nerves, but. i do have a resolution this year...
